How to add or delete your own items
If an item is not listed in the inventory, you can add your own. The
program adds a new item to the column where you place the cursor. This can be
in any of the columns where items are listed. You cannot, however, add an item
to a blank column. except for Collections. You cannot add an item in column 1."
- Right click anywhere in the column where you wish to add a new item.
The Add New Product box opens. Type in its Name, Price and Quantity
and click Save. You must give it a price and quantity. The new product
appears in the column in orange. So you know which ones you have added,
they will appear in orange throughout the program.
- You cannot add a new item as a subcategory of one that you previously
created yourself (coloured orange).
- You similarly can delete an item you have entered (coloured orange)
by right clicking the item and clicking Delete.
- For example if you have a fancy new power tool not in the database,
click DIY+Motoring then PowerTools. Then right click anywhere in column
three and select Add a Product. Type FancyNewPowerTool, quantity 1 at
£199.00 and click Save. The item appears in column three in orange
under PowerTools.
- This method can be used very effectively to add a wide list of items
under Collections. Here, you find the collection you want and then right
click in the far right hand column opposite Collection and follow the
procedure for Adding a Product. If you do enter your own collection
in columns 2 or 3 you will not be able to enter individual collection
items under that collection header (but you could put the total value
of the collection under Price). Instead use the Misc1 -5 headings and
record your name for these in the Notes box. You can then enter individual
items in column 4.
- Note. It is best to avoid spaces when naming your own items. Use the
existing convention of no spaces and capital letters e.g. MyNewItem
To delete an item you have added right click on the item (it will be
coloured orange) and select Delete. You will be asked to confirm or cancel.
